What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head Coach: Girls Cross Country position at Woonsocket Education Department?
Function:To carry out the aims and objectives of the program as outlined by the Athletic Director. To instruct athletes in individual and team fundamentals, strategy, and physical training necessary to realize individual and team success.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Supervises athletes and the team assigned to her/him and assumes supervising control over all athletes in the program when such control is needed.
Determines scheduling and providing transportation to tournaments and special events.
Must prepare to hold scheduled sports events or practices and adhere to expected facilities.
Provides documentation to the Athletic Director to fulfill state and system requirements concerning physical examinations, parental consent, and eligibility.
Provides proper safeguards for maintenance and protection of assigned equipment and sites.
Provides training rules and any other unique sports regulations to each athlete considered a participant.
Must be present at all practices and games, and while traveling, provide assistance, guidance, and safeguards for each participant.
Directs student managers and statisticians.
Determines discipline and delineates procedures concerning due process when the enforcement of discipline is necessary. Contacts parents when a student is dropped or becomes ineligible.
Reports to the Director of Athletics & Activities and/or Building Principal
Required Qualifications:
Teaching certificate and experience preferred.
Previous coaching experience in assigned sports is desirable.
Has knowledge and background in the assigned sport.
Has taken a course or workshop or has proof of competency in first aid.
Has a certificate or completion of a class in CPR.
All qualifications are equal, and preference will be given to current faculty members.
