What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preschool Assistant Teacher position at Woolley Institute for Spoken-Language Education?
Job Summary: The Classroom Assistant provides assistance to classroom teachers and therapists as well as exercises significant autonomy within defined perimeters in the provision of childcare, therapeutic and preschool curriculum.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Provide developmentally appropriate preschool education using a theme and/or literature-based approach, as well as small group instruction, to meet the varying needs of the children and their different developmental and linguistic levels.
· Implement lesson plans provided by the WISE therapists.
· Prepare/plan activities for sessions as directed by the therapists.
· Gather all materials for sessions as directed by the therapists.
· Prepare instructional materials as requested by the therapists.
· Perform daily listening checks, cochlear implant, and hearing aid maintenance.
· Provide care for the children including basic hygiene and basic first aid as needed.
· Assist children with toileting and potty training. Change diapers and pull ups.
· Provide discipline consistent with WISE policies and procedures.
· Serve as language model during lunch, therapy activities, and free play time.
· Perform clerical duties including attendance, rosters, preschool applications, school calendar, progress reports, copying materials, maintaining databases, and other school related information. These duties should not interfere with planning or working with the children.
· Document progress in each child’s notebook every day, initial entries.
· Take pictures/create posts to send to social media personnel.
· Assist with morning and afternoon carpool.
· Complete language samples and analysis using CASSLS.
· Supervise playground time and lunch time.
· Maintain WISE library including filing and recording all books.
· Remove trash, clean classrooms, children’s restrooms, and resource room.
· Assist with setup and cleanup of parent meetings and special events.
· Assist with fundraisers and special events.
· Perform other duties as assigned.

· Above average communication skills, written and spoken
· Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion
· Ability to successfully multi-task; must be organized and efficient
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
· Proficient technical aptitude for clerical duties; knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint or similar programs; databases; email; website navigation
· Display professional appearance and conduct in representing WISE and adhere to its policies, culture, and standards.
· CPR Certification
· Pass a background Screening
