Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and collaborative educator to provide personalized literacy and English Language Arts (ELA) instruction for students in grades 7–12. This role focuses on delivering targeted, evidence-based literacy interventions and developing individualized pathways to support student growth and achievement.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of screening and diagnostic assessments, progress monitoring, and goal setting. They will implement effective intervention practices aligned with the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), foundational literacy skills, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL).
In addition, this educator will design and support flexible, personalized pathways for high school students seeking alternative options for earning English/ELA credits. These pathways should align with the MVSU Portrait of a Graduate while honoring students’ individual needs, interests, and goals.
This is a highly collaborative role. The Literacy Interventionist will work closely with the 7–12 MTSS Coordinator, special education staff, school counselors, and classroom teachers to ensure cohesive and effective support for all learners.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide targeted Tier 2 and Tier 3 literacy interventions for students in grades 7–12

Deliver explicit instruction in reading and writing, grounded in best practices

Utilize screening and diagnostic assessment data to develop and monitor individualized learning goals

Design and implement personalized learning pathways for students needing alternative routes to ELA credit attainment

Collaborate with MTSS teams, special educators, counselors, and classroom teachers to coordinate supports

Support both students and staff in navigating multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) and aligning interventions with core instruction
Required Qualifications:

Valid VT Educator license with endorsement 79- Specialized Literacy Professional

3–5 years of experience in English Language Arts instruction

Experience providing writing instruction and targeted interventions

Experience implementing Tier 2 and Tier 3 reading interventions

Demonstrated ability to design personalized, flexible learning pathways for students
Preferred Qualifications:

Secondary English endorsement or Specialized Literacy Professional certification

Experience in literacy coaching and/or instructional coaching

Demonstrated ability to support teachers in strengthening Tier 1 (universal) instruction alongside intervention systems
