POSITION SUMMARY:
The Woodson YMCA is seeking a motivated, relationship-focused leader to serve as our Assistant Health & Wellness Director. This position supports daily Health & Wellness operations including member engagement, wellness programming, staff supervision, personal training, and healthy living initiatives. This role works closely with the Association Health & Wellness Director to expand programming, support retention, and strengthen the YMCA mission of building a healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Assist in the daily operation and supervision of the Health & Wellness Department.
• Ability to lead group exercise and small group exercise classes.
• Support oversight of wellness center operations, member experience, equipment safety, and facility standards.
• Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise wellness staff, personal trainers, and instructors.
• Build positive relationships with members while providing exceptional customer service and wellness support.
• Assist with development, implementation, and growth of health and wellness programs.
• Maintain wellness center equipment in safe, clean, and good working condition through monitoring and preventative maintenance coordination.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for equipment service needs, including communicating with Matrix and other vendors.
• Conduct wellness orientations, equipment education, and member support as needed.
• Assist with member retention efforts by helping individuals achieve wellness goals.
• Support department budgeting, reporting, and operational goals.
• Ensure wellness spaces are clean, safe, welcoming, and aligned with YMCA standards.
• Assist in association-wide initiatives and special events.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Health Promotion, Wellness, Recreation, or related field preferred.
• Experience in health and wellness, fitness leadership, or personal training preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
• Experience supervising staff preferred.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire.
• National fitness certification preferred (ACE, NASM, ACSM, ISSA, NSCA, etc.) or willingness to obtain.

Salary : $40,000 - $45,000
