Shower Aide, (Non-Exempt)
Starting Wage: $20.00//hour
Hours: Full-Time Position
POSITION SUMMARY:
A para professional who gives direct care to our residents in our skilled nursing facility, with a main focus of showers and nailcare as needed. Assignments are given in the form of oral instructions or written work schedules from a Registered Nurse. May transfer or transport residents as allowed by OSHA standards. Work is subject to review in progress and upon completion.
ESSENTIAL FUNCITONS:
- Promote principles of resident directed care including honoring residents’ desires, strengths, and preferences. Promote residents’ highest level of function
- Responsible for managing and executing the showers of the residents including nailcare as needed.
- Perform wound care/dressing changes as needed.
- Answer resident call signals to determine residents’ needs.
- Provide physical support to assist residents to perform daily living activities, such as getting out of bed, bathing, dressing, using the toilet, standing, walking, or exercising.
- Communicate with residents to ascertain feelings or need for assistance or social and emotional support.
- Observe or examine residents to detect symptoms that may require medical attention, such as bruises, open wounds, or blood in urine.
- Apply clean dressings, slings, stockings, or support bandages, under the direction of a nurse or physician.
- Document or otherwise report observations of resident behavior, complaints, or physical symptoms to nurses.
- Record vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse, or respiration rate as directed by medical or nursing staff.
- Feed residents or assist residents in eating and drinking.
- Review residents’ dietary restrictions, food allergies, and preferences to ensure resident receives appropriate diet.
- Change bed linens or make beds.
- Measure and record food and liquid intake or urinary and fecal output, reporting changes to medical or nursing staff.
- Collect specimens such as urine, feces, or sputum.
- Restock resident rooms with personal hygiene items, such as towels, washcloths, soap, or toilet paper.
- Supply, collect and empty bedpans.
- Turn or reposition residents.
- Undress, wash, and dress residents who are unable to do so for themselves.
- Transport specimens, laboratory items, or pharmacy items, ensuring proper documentation and delivery to authorized personnel.

- Is knowledgeable of resident rights and ensures an atmosphere which allows for the privacy, dignity, and well-being of all residents in a safe, secure environment
- Observes care in ensuring the confidentiality of all data, including resident, employee, and operations data as required by HIPAA/HITECH regulations
- Abides by all applicable statutes and regulations through compliance with the Woodside Corporate Compliance and Ethics Program
- Completes requirements for in-service training
- Completes other tasks and duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Must be a C.N.A. or have the willingness to obtain required
- Experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant strongly preferred
