Position Summary:
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for establishing and maintaining successful operations of an assigned area or shift by directing and managing the activities of the warehouse team members engaged in shipping, receiving and inventory management. This position is also responsible for the accuracy of inventory received into the facility, shipments leaving the facility and the accuracy of storage locations in the Warehouse Management System.
Primary Responsibilities:
Warehousing and General Task Management
- Ensure an efficient warehouse operation which is able to fulfill operational and customer demand.
- Understand, communicate and enforce policies and procedures related to the company’s Food Safety program and audits.
- Supervise and control order picking, receiving and shipping operations to ensure accuracy with minimum handling and product damage.
- Understand customer needs and ensure alignment with the needs/commitments of the company.
- Understand and facilitate the flow of paperwork from office to warehouse and warehouse to office.
- Meet the company’s shipping accuracy requirement.
- Keep damage and mis-shipment claims below budgeted levels.
- Keep adjustments for damage, mis-shipped product and mis-received product below the company’s required percentage rate.
- Ensure the accuracy of all documentation relating to product received and product shipped, including labeling of inventory and billing charges.
- Assist Operations Management to ensure efficient space utilization by directing the putaway of new inventory daily.
- Identify errors and determine root cause in conjunction with Operations Manager / Warehouse Manager.
- Immediately resolve inventory discrepancies in coordination with office staff.
- Ensure inventories are accurate by conducting physical counts according to schedule or when needed.
- Ensure location accuracy of product is 99% or higher.
- Ensure product is stored in accordance with requirements, such as hazardous materials, allergens, etc.
- Provide a safe and clean working environment adhering to company policies and procedures and ensure they are understood and practiced by the team at all times.
- Monitor and maintain high standards of security in the facility.
- Ensure machinery and equipment are well maintained.
- Keep damage and abuse to machinery and equipment below company required standard.
- Ensure that staff work safely to protect themselves and others.
- Provide backup for warehouse staff when they are absent.
- Monitor propane levels at the beginning of the shift and report findings to the Warehouse Manager.
- Notify Operations Manager / Warehouse Manager when warehouse supplies need to be ordered.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
People Management
- Proactively contribute to creating a good team atmosphere.
- Ensure company policies are communicated, administered and enforced.
- Supervise the warehouse team and manage day to day warehouse operations.
- Ensure warehouse employees are adequately trained and competent within their role to ensure operational standards are met.
- Report the need for disciplinary action to direct manager.
- Communicate with warehouse staff on a regular basis to make them aware of priorities and operational requirements.
- Review and assess ongoing performance of direct report(s).
- Take ownership of team cohesion and team development.
- Assist in warehouse hiring process as needed.
Management
- Have a collaborative approach to working with others.
- Lead and motivate a team of people to succeed by utilizing appropriate interpersonal styles including leading by example, setting objectives and defining responsibilities to give a clear sense of direction.
- Arrive for each workday with sufficient time before shift begins to plan and prepare for the day’s workload.
- Be available to work outside of business hours as needed.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

- Ability to responsibly and safely operate a sit-down forklift, handcarts, pallet jacks, pallet scales, and other necessary equipment.
- Ability to load and unload product utilizing a sit down forklift.
- Ability to lift objects of various shapes, sizes and weights up to 50 lbs.
- Able to work in a warehouse environment with exposure to temperature swings, noise, dust, heavy forklift/truck/pedestrian traffic.
- Must be able to pass agency background screens and drug screen at any time.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $44,000.00 - $48,000.00 per year
