What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part Time Legal Assistant position at Woodruff and Mathis?
Part-time position working for a solo practitioner with a Social Security disability practice. This is a position of considerable responsibility in a flexible, casual setting. 24 hours per week, 9am-3pm. Starting pay of $20/hour with annual, performance based raises.
Responsibilities include:
- office management duties including answering phones and paying bills
- setting up case files
- requesting and organizing medical records for submission to the court
- conducting client interviews
- assisting clients with the application process
- preparing and submitting appeals
We work with a diverse clientele and many of our clients suffer from mental and physical disabilities. The ability to be comfortable conducting client interviews that may involve the discussion of personal and sensitive issues is important.
This is not a glamorous position but a position of true responsibility. It is a real opportunity to be a crucial part of the practice. Self-starting, independent thinking and the ability to communicate professionally are paramount. In addition to the above criteria, social work, mental health and/or management experience would be preferred.
Pay: From $20.00 per hour
