About Us: Woodland Resort is a family-owned lakeside retreat on Devils Lake, North Dakota, renowned for world-class walleye fishing and cozy cabin getaways. We’re seeking a versatile, hands-on team member to keep our resort running smoothly in the summer and guide our guests to the best ice fishing adventures in the winter.

Job Overview: We’re looking for a skilled Outdoor Maintenance & Ice Crew Worker to join our family-run resort. In the summer, you’ll maintain our cabins, grounds, and boats, ensuring that guests enjoy a top-notch experience. When winter hits, you’ll shift gears to become an ice fishing guide, supporting our clients with our 55-unit ice house fleet. If you’re hardworking, love the outdoors, and have a knack for fixing things and finding fish, we want you on our team!

Summer Responsibilities (April-October):

• Perform general maintenance on cabins, including repairs to plumbing, electrical, and structural components.
• Maintain resort roads, ensuring safe and accessible pathways for guests and staff.
• Service and repair boats, including electronics rigging and mechanical upkeep.
• Trim trees and clear brush to keep the property safe and visually appealing.
• Build and repair docks and boat lifts to support our marina operations.
• Refill propane tanks for cabins and amenities, adhering to safety protocols.
• Assist with other tasks as needed to support the resort’s daily operations.

Winter Responsibilities (December-March):

• Serve as an Ice Worker for guests, leveraging expertise to locate prime fishing spots on Devils Lake.
• Advise clients on techniques, bait, and equipment to maximize their ice fishing success.
• Support our 55-unit ice house fleet by plowing snow, banking houses with snow for insulation, and ensuring houses are guest-ready.
• Maintain ice roads and access points, keeping them clear and safe for travel.
• Provide friendly, knowledgeable assistance to guests, enhancing their winter fishing experience.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in general maintenance (e.g., carpentry, plumbing, electrical, or equipment repair).
• Strong mechanical skills, with boat repair or rigging experience a plus.
• Ice fishing knowledge, ideally on Devils Lake, with ability to find fish and guide others effectively.
• Comfortable operating snowplows, chainsaws, and other seasonal equipment (training provided if needed).
• Physical ability to lift 50 lbs, work outdoors in all weather, and handle manual labor tasks.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; CDL a bonus but not required.
• Friendly, team-oriented attitude with a passion for helping guests enjoy our family resort.
• Basic first aid/CPR certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).

Work Environment:

• Summer: Outdoor work in warm weather, often near water, with occasional evening or weekend shifts.
• Winter: Cold-weather work on ice and snow, guiding guests daily, with flexible hours based on fishing conditions and guest needs.
