Elementary Literacy Coach
Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the building principals and Chief Academic Officer, the Elementary Literacy Coach will develop, strengthen, and align skills and instructional strategies of teachers serving students in both elementary schools. The Literacy Coach will work alongside the leadership staff to support K-3 literacy teachers through modeling, co-teaching, and professional development. The Elementary Literacy Coach will also coordinate the School Leadership Team (SLT) process through data analysis, strategic planning and work to build the systems and structures required for research-proven literacy practice implementation across Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3.
Essential Functions
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the elementary principals, and central office administrators.

Essential Functions
- Support the Principals and the Deans of Instruction in the implementation of the instructional framework of both Elementary campuses.
- Serve as an instructional coach for K-3 teachers at both Elementary campuses.
- Observe, in a non-evaluative manner, all teachers to determine areas of strength and areas for improvement in the area of literacy instruction.
- Meet with teachers to discuss observations and set up coaching cycles to support growth.
- Provide necessary feedback to the Elementary Principals and Deans of Instruction.
- Support with professional development organization and planning.
- Oversee, analyze, and maintain data and records for the SLT.
- Coordinate family literacy night opportunities.

- Knowledge of current instructional methods, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and the formulation of action plans.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and regulations regarding education and students.
- Ability to use software applications as needed.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and students.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Education
- Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
- Master's Degree preferred.
- Compensation (based on 100% FTE)

- This is a grant funded position (based on a 4 year grant)
