Job Summary
The Administrator of Special Education provides leadership and support to District administrators and instructional staff K12 for the development, assessment, implementation, and evaluation of special education programs throughout the District.
Requirements / Qualifications
California Administrator’s Credential and valid teaching or services credential. Required: Demonstrate expertise in Special Education, including but not limited to: SELPA functions and scope of programs, LRE/FAPE. Maintains a system of case management to assure compliance with applicable laws. Models high expectations for student achievement in classrooms and working with teachers. The knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of school organization, law, policy, programs and curricula; of public relations; of innovative practices; of the relationships of growth, development, and learning of school children. Assess program climate and culture as they effect the learning environment. Work successfully with administrators, teachers and students. Desired: Work successfully with administrators, teachers, students, and parents; provide staff development, which fosters sustained instructional improvement and addresses the "at risk" students. Plan effective processes and implementation plans for programs for K-12.
