Job Summary:
The Credit Specialist 1 is responsible for supporting the credit and collections activities within the organization by ensuring timely collection of outstanding debts. The primary functions of this position include analyzing financial data, maintaining accurate records,  and collaborating with internal/external stakeholders through excellent customer service and following department policies and procedures. 

Duties & Responsibilities: 

• Reconcile customer account(s) and work to research and clear unresolved deductions in ERP system.


• Ensure timely processing of payments are applied to accounts per customers’ requirements.


• Maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers for collaboration.


• Utilize department processes and procedures accurately, consistently, and efficiently (i.e., status reason codes, line items, notes).


• Process customer order releases in a timely manner (30 minutes) by researching eligibility and account information.


• Investigate customer inquiries to help answer questions and resolve discrepancies on accounts.


• Communicate offsets and adjustments to the Cash Applications team.


• Support the Credit Specialist 2 with extensive research and account maintenance items as requested.

Requirements:

• Must possess a High School Diploma or GED. Higher education is preferred.


• At least 2 years of previous work experience in an office environment. Previous Accounts Receivables (AR) experience is preferred.


• Previous experience in a customer service role in which the primary focus was on account support in a financial setting.


• Must have a basic level understanding of Microsoft Office tools (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

Additional Skills: 

• Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills


• Understanding of accounting principles and practices and basic math skills


• Ability to use standard office equipment


• Excellent attention to detail and data entry skills


• Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages preferred.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands and work environment for this role align with those of a standard office setting. While performing job duties, the employee may occasionally need to stand, walk, sit, use hands for handling objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, as well as talk and hear. This role may occasionally require lifting or moving up to 25 pounds. 

Travel:

This position does not require travel to other Woodgrain locations.
