Description

Woodford County Farm Bureau is seeking a motivated, organized, and outgoing individual to serve as our part-time Education & Program Coordinator. This position coordinates our Ag in the Classroom program and assists with member programs, community outreach, workshops, and events throughout Woodford County.

This is a great position for someone who enjoys working with people of all ages, is comfortable taking the lead on projects and events, and has an interest in agriculture, education, community involvement, or nonprofit programming.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Woodford County Farm Bureau's Ag in the Classroom (AITC) program, including scheduling classroom visits, preparing lessons and materials, communicating with teachers, and presenting agricultural lessons to students.
  • Build and maintain relationships with Woodford County schools, teachers, community organizations, agricultural partners, volunteers, and members.
  • Plan, coordinate, promote, and assist with Farm Bureau member programs, workshops, seminars, community events, and outreach activities.
  • Represent Woodford County Farm Bureau at schools, fairs, community events, and other activities throughout the county.
  • Recruit, coordinate, and train volunteers to assist with Ag in the Classroom lessons and Farm Bureau programs.
  • Prepare educational materials, program resources, promotional information, registrations, and other materials needed for programs and events.
  • Assist with membership outreach and efforts to engage current and prospective Farm Bureau members.
  • Help develop and implement fundraisers supporting agricultural education and Farm Bureau programming.
  • Maintain program records and prepare required reports.
  • Participate in applicable district and statewide Illinois Farm Bureau agricultural literacy meetings, trainings, and programs.
  • Assist with general office responsibilities and Farm Bureau activities as needed.
  • Perform other duties and special projects assigned by the Manager.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be dependable, organized, self-motivated, and able to follow projects through from planning to completion.
  • Be comfortable communicating and working with children, educators, farmers, Farm Bureau members, volunteers, and the general public.
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be comfortable speaking in front of classrooms and groups.
  • Be able to work independently while also taking direction and working as part of a small team.
  • Have basic computer and office technology skills.
  • Be willing to learn about agriculture and Farm Bureau programs. An agricultural background is helpful but not required.
  • Have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Experience in education, agriculture, communications, event planning, nonprofit programming, community outreach, 4-H/Extension, FFA, or a related field is beneficial but not required.

Schedule & Travel

This is a part-time position with hours varying based on classroom schedules, programs, and events. Most work will take place during regular weekday hours, with occasional evening or weekend programs or events.

The position requires local travel throughout Woodford County to schools, programs, meetings, and community events. Occasional travel outside the county may be required for training or Farm Bureau meetings.

Mileage is reimbursed for approved work-related travel.
