What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full Time Tavern Bartender position at Woodberry Kitchen?
Woodberry Kitchen is the James Beard award winning restaurant in Clipper Mill, with an 18-year history of sourcing exclusively local ingredients from small, regenerative farms. We are looking for a Tavern Bartender to join our team full-time as part of a small but might professional & empathetic service team.
This role is Wednesday to Sunday, 2.45pm-11pm (Wed-Sat) and 8.45am-4pm on Sundays. This is a unique opportunity to work with the best ingredients from produce to biodynamic and organic wines to local spirits. The ideal candidate has spent 2 years in fine dining or bar settings similar to Woodberry Kitchen.
Responsibilities:
- Manage all bar prep and mise en place for service, with absolute readiness at 5pm for service
- Ensure proper stocking and storage of glassware, garnishes, ice, wine, beer, spirits, bar pantry and juice ingredients, and any other items needed for service
- Work with guests and co-workers with positivity and warmth throughout service, executing beverage orders to drink ticket time standards and quality standards, and serving the bar seats
- Represent Woodberry's approach around local sourcing by learning and understanding it, engaging with guests, using it to inform the bar menu, and contributing to our efforts around constant improvement
- Break down the bar after service efficiently and well and reset for the next great service
Qualifications:
- 3 years of bartending experience, preferably in a high-volume environment
- Knowledge of classic cocktail recipes and general cocktail procedures
- Ability to learn and execute new cocktail recipes
- Wine and craft beer knowledge/expertise preferred
- Friendly, professional demeanor with guests
- Ability to take direction and to work and collaborate as a team member
- Ability to be on your feet for significant stretches of time and to lift approximately 50 lb
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Knowledge of and enthusiasm for delicious, locally-sourced food and beverage is a plus!
Compensation:
Starting at $25/hour, plus tips (generally additional $5-10/hr on top of base wage)
