Position Summary:
The Front Desk Attendant is responsible for greeting and welcoming customers, answering the phone, processing registrations and payments, and answering diverse informational questions. In addition, various office duties, such as copying, filling, typing, data entry and organizing will be performed.
Work Location:
Wood Dale Recreation Center, 111 E. Foster Ave., Wood Dale, IL 60191 and various parks and facilities throughout the District
Hours
General hours of work are weekday mornings, afternoons, and evenings and weekends. Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule based on the operational needs of the Park District. The front desk is open the following hours:
Monday – Thursday – (first shift) 8:25am – 3:00pm (second shift) 3:00pm – 9:00pm
Friday– (first shift) 8:25am – 3:00pm (second shift) 3:00pm – 8:00pm
Saturday – 8:00am – 2:00pm
Sunday – 8:00am – 12:00pm
We are currently specifically hiring for first shift
Tuesday & Thursday - 8:25am - 3:00pm
Alternating weekends (either Saturday or Sunday)

This position supervises: No supervisory responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Demonstrates Park District customer service standards.
- Answer the telephone, transfer calls, and take accurate messages for staff.
- Performs various office duties, including but not limited to, filing, copying, data entry, typing, etc.
- Process registrations, refunds, transfers, and membership sales.
- Maintains a good rapport with all customers and provides exceptional customer service.
- Open and/or close the entire facility when needed.
- Maintains a current and accurate knowledge of all Park District programs, special events and facilities as well as those within the community.
- Follows Park District and departmental safety, personnel and administrative policies, procedures, and ordinances.
- Attend staff training sessions as scheduled.
- Communicate with staff through oral and written communication.
- Maintains a clean and organized work environment.
- Adhere to dress code.
- Assists other staff with various projects/assignments, as directed.
- Attend work on regular basis.
- Perform related job duties as assigned
- Attends meetings, as assigned
- Complete necessary forms and logs for programs and agency
Requirements / Qualifications:
- A minimum age of 18 is required for this position
- High school diploma or GED Certificate; some college coursework preferred
- Prior office and/or customer service experience preferred
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Bi-lingual a plus but not required.
Knowledge of:
- Recreation software, ActiveNet knowledge preferred but not required
- Microsoft Office and the ability to learn special recreation software
Ability to:
- Work in a year-round position with a variety of weekday, weeknight and weekend shifts
- Ability to handle a variety of tasks/situations at one time.
- Ability to be patient and courteous.
- Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
- Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule.
- Ability to accurately handle monetary transactions
Skills in:
- Excellent customer service skills
- Microsoft Excel and Word
- Capacity to learn ActiveNet recreation registration software
- Ability to speak and write effectively & clearly
- Capacity to demonstrate strong leadership skills
Required Certifications:
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification within 30 days of hire; First Aid/CPR/AED certification preferred.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Primarily indoor environment with fluorescent lighting, heating and air conditioning. Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
