Medical Laboratory Scientist / Full Time / Days
The Medical Laboratory Scientist is responsible for performing accurate, timely, and reliable laboratory testing to support the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patients across all age groups. This role ensures compliance with established procedures and regulatory standards, maintains instrument performance, supports quality and accreditation initiatives, and contributes to a collaborative healthcare team through education, problem-solving, and continuous professional development. The Medical Laboratory Scientist is an onsite position.
Essential Functions
- Perform laboratory testing activities, including test ordering, specimen accessioning, handling, processing, analysis, and result reporting, in accordance with established procedures and quality standards.
- Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment, including performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and documenting actions taken per standard operating procedures.
- Ensure accurate patient identification, specimen integrity, and result validity by following hospital policies, addressing critical values and unacceptable specimens, and resolving specimen or result discrepancies.
- Utilize hospital and laboratory information systems to place orders, enter and verify results, and support efficient workflow across laboratory operations.
- Contribute to laboratory quality, education, and operations by participating in quality initiatives, accreditation activities, staff training, student supervision, and continuous professional development.
- Prepare, prevent, protect and respond to support our culture of safety.
- Works hours per week in accordance with offer letter or per attributes of position at transfer request. May be expected to work longer hours as necessary.

- Must possess education and training that enable employee to perform high complexity testing as defined by CLIA ’88.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent hours in a biological, chemical, or physical science.

- Current certification or eligible as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP) or
- Grandfathered as a Registered Medical Technologist.
