OVERVIEW:
The Wonder Gardens, a nearly 90-year-old historical Zoological Park in the heart of SWFL, seeks a Guest Service Associate for our Guest Experience & Retail department. This vital frontline position will serve as an integral member of Team Wonder. The Associate will be scheduled on an as-needed basis as a part of the Wonder Gardens Welcome Center and its retail boutique, The Wonder Shoppe and Events. This person is the first contact our guests have with the Wonder Gardens, and our mission is to make them feel welcome from the moment they enter.
QUALIFICATIONS- GUEST EXPERIENCE & RETAIL ASSOCIATE I
- Exceptional customer service and verbal communication skills
- Ability to interact with guests and co-workers in a positive and professional manner
- Minimum of two years of related experience
- High school diploma and some college preferred
- Effective time management skills and ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment, turning on a dime when necessary
- Ability to create effective merchandise displays, enter orders and tag items
- Enthusiastic desire and ability to work with and engage people
- Willingness to learn about the Wonder Gardens, its history, the animal residents and the mission of the organization
- Computer skills (Microsoft Office and Canva working knowledge a plus)
- Ability to work effectively as a team member
- Willingness to work outside 9:00-5:00 hours if needed
- Ability to upsell merchandise and to convert guests into members
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Cash handling/retail experience preferred
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES, GUEST EXPERIENCE & RETAIL ASSOCIATE
- Greets guests and answers questions, knowing first impressions are lasting
- Excellent multitasking skills, ok in fast-paced environment
- Promotes and upsells annual memberships and premium experiences
- Provides guests with exceptional customer service
- Politely and diplomatically enforces policies and procedures to guests
- Able to handle customer service issues and turn them into positives
- Adheres to designated cash handling guidelines
- Accurately handles payment transactions using a point-of-sale system
- Assist with Wonder Gardens special events
- Occasionally assist with private events
- Occasionally assist with educational tours, or field trips
- Maintains cleanliness and organization of admission/cash desk and store
- Keeps abreast of Wonder Gardens daily activities and programs and communicates to visitors
- Works with various booking and membership systems
- Follows established guidelines to ensure the safety of guests and staff
- Grace under pressure; must deal with crowds effectively
- Excellent phone manners
