What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cashier - Hope's Closet position at WOMENS CENTER OF EAST TEXAS INC?
The cashier is responsible for providing excellent customer and donor care while maintaining a safe and clean sales floor.
Essential Duties
- Promote friendly and helpful customer service and donor care.
- Operate the cash register and answers the telephone.
- Stock shelves and racks with processed merchandise.
- Always keep the store neat and clean.
- Assist donors as they arrive.
- Unload and sort materials in the donation area.
- Assist with loading and unloading merchandise and equipment as needed.
- Demonstrate professionalism and presents a friendly, cooperative attitude towards customers and co-workers.
- Ability to multi-task, make quick decisions and work in a team oriented, fast paced environment.
- Must be punctual and have dependable attendance.
- Must have open availability, including nights and weekends.
- Always follow all policies and procedures.
- All other duties as instructed by the Manager.
Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions

- Ability to respond to telephones, written correspondence, and other auditory and visual stimulation.
- Ability to remain calm under stress and have the emotional and physical stamina to deal with a variety of stressful situations.
- At least 6 months' customer service/cashier experience preferred.
- Frequently sit, stand, bend, kneel, and walk.
- Frequently lift and carry items up to 40 pounds.
- Occasionally climb stairs or inclined surfaces.
- Occasionally work outside during night hours and/or inclement weather.
