Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Controller to oversee the company's accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial information while supporting leadership with financial insights, cash flow visibility, and scalable accounting processes. This role is both hands-on and strategic, playing a key part in the company's financial health and growth.
Duties
- Full-cycle accounting oversight
- Lead and manage all financial functions of the company, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, compliance, and cash flow management.
- Payroll oversight
- Bank reconciliations
- Inventory accounting (if applicable)
- Tax coordination with CPA (NOT filing, but prep/review)
- Internal controls & process improvement
- Compliance (state, federal, industry-specific)
- Serve as both high-level strategist and finance controller, ensuring financial discipline, accuracy, and transparency across all business units.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, and systems that support growth, scalability, and regulatory compliance in the cannabis industry.
- Provide executive leadership with actionable financial insights to guide decision-making and long-term strategy.
- Coordinate with auditors, legal, tax, and banking partners to ensure the company is meeting all obligations and maximizing efficiency.
- Play a critical role in evaluating new ventures, partnerships, and expansion opportunities.
Skills
- Proven experience as CFO, Finance Controller, or financial leader in a complex, multi-entity business environment.
- Deep knowledge of accounting principles, financial planning, compliance, and risk management.
- Cannabis industry experience strongly preferred, but not required.
- CPA or MBA strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and develop a team, while also being hands-on when needed.
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
