Position Summary
Florida Metro Construction is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of multiple petroleum construction and service projects while ensuring safety, quality, profitability, and exceptional customer service.
The Operations Manager will provide leadership to project managers, field superintendents, service technicians, subcontractors, and office personnel to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with all regulatory requirements.
This individual will be responsible for improving operational efficiency, managing resources, developing employees, and maintaining strong relationships with clients throughout South Florida.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations for construction, service, and maintenance divisions.
- Manage multiple petroleum construction and fuel system projects simultaneously.
- Direct project managers, field supervisors, and service technicians to ensure successful project execution.
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, labor utilization, equipment, and subcontractor performance.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DEP, environmental, and company safety standards.
- Review project financial performance, profitability, change orders, and cost controls.
- Coordinate manpower, equipment, and materials to maximize productivity.
- Develop and implement operational processes that improve efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, inspectors, municipalities, and regulatory agencies.
- Lead project planning meetings and provide executive leadership with operational updates and performance metrics.
- Support estimating and preconstruction activities when needed.
- Assist with recruiting, hiring, coaching, and performance management of field and operations personnel.
- Resolve operational issues while maintaining a high level of customer service.
Qualifications
Required
- 7 years of operations management experience within commercial, heavy civil, petroleum, utility, or industrial construction.
- Experience managing multiple concurrent construction or service projects.
- Strong leadership experience supervising field operations and project teams.
- Thorough understanding of construction scheduling, budgeting, estimating, and project controls.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and construction best practices.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software.
Preferred
- Experience with petroleum storage tank systems, fueling infrastructure, environmental remediation, or fuel distribution projects.
- Knowledge of underground utilities, excavation, concrete, piping, and mechanical construction.
- Experience working with municipalities, airports, transportation agencies, or government contracts.
- OSHA 30 Certification.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field (preferred).
