Licensed Student Success Coach 2026-2027

General Definition of Work

The Student Success Coach increases the capacity of teachers to improve their classroom management skills and the culture of their classrooms through the delivery of professional development, peer coaching, and the modeling of techniques and strategies.  The Student Success Coach monitors student progression with a focus on behavior and academic subgroups.  The Student Success Coach works directly with students in need of tier 2 and 3 behavior and academic support.

Essential Functions

• Provide professional development to school staff on restorative justice and other interventions/strategies
• Research and obtain external resources on classroom management and the development of strong classroom cultures
• Create lesson plans for PBIS Expectations
• Ensure school HOUSE system is implemented with fidelity
• Lead planning for HOUSE meetings and celebrations
• Support and coach staff on implementing PBIS with fidelity, including positive redirection
• Model classroom management strategies to improve classroom culture and develop an effective instructional environment
• Provide behavior and academic interventions for students in tier 2 and 3 
• Conduct an analysis of gaps between the school’s mission/vision and teachers’ classroom management and classroom culture
• Observe teachers’ classroom practice to diagnose the gaps in teachers’ classroom management and classroom culture
• Provide feedback to teachers on their ability to manage student behavior, implement PBIS/HOUSE system, and create effective classroom learning environments
• Work with teachers to problem-solve specific classroom management and student behavior challenges through the lenses of instruction, curriculum, and environment
• Ensure alignment between the teachers’ classroom actions, PBIS, and school’s vision / mission
• Serve on the School Improvement Team, MTSS and PBIS/ HOUSE Goal Team

• Demonstrated ability to coach and support teachers
• Demonstrated ability to facilitate professional development
• Experience with implementing PBIS
• Experience implementing FBA/ BIP
• Experience analyzing Behavior Universal Screener (BUS)
• Experience closing achievement gaps within school subgroups
• Effective interpersonal skills

Education and Experience

NC Teaching License with a minimum of 4 years successful elementary experience.  

Dual licensed in both EC and Elementary Education preferred.

Physical Requirements

• This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force.
• Work regularly requires speaking or hearing, frequently requires walking and sitting and occasionally requires standing, using hands to finger, handle or feel, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms and lifting.
• Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data; work has no exposure to environmental conditions; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
