We're looking for a Senior Manager, Play Expansion & Acquisition to help bring Magic play to new spaces, new audiences, and new markets around the world.
What You'll Do
- Partner with the Commercial organization to identify, evaluate, and scale play opportunities in expanded retail and experiential verticals.
- Develop scalable program frameworks that enable Magic play in new environments while maintaining brand and player experience standards.
- Own strategy and execution across Magic play for new-to-play acquisition initiatives, in established and new verticals, from concept through launch, measurement, and iteration.
- Establish clear success metrics for acquisition and expansion programs and use data-driven insights to optimize performance.
- Serve as the primary liaison between the central Play Team and internal international teams on play-related initiatives, ensuring alignment, clarity of ownership, and shared accountability.
- Build feedback loops with regional teams to surface market insights and inform global play strategy.
- Ensure all expansion efforts support long-term ecosystem health, balancing growth, retention, and community sustainability.
- Influence cross-functional stakeholders across Commercial, Marketing, Organized Play, and Regional teams to drive coordinated execution.
- Minimum of 5 years experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives.
- Proven success launching or scaling programs in retail, experiential, or group-focused environments.
- Experience crafting and executing acquisition strategies with measurable business impact.
- Strong strategic thinking paired with operational excellence and follow-through.
- Ability to influence without direct authority in a global, matrixed organization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level storytelling.
- Experience working with international markets and regional teams.
- Bilingual or multilingual capabilities, especially fluency in Japanese.
- Familiarity with hobby retail, specialty retail, or entertainment verticals.
- Experience in live events, organized play, or community ecosystem development.
- Passion for Magic: The Gathering and tabletop gaming.
