Role: Cortex / Snowflake AI Engineer

Title: AVP/VP

Location: NYC, NY(Day 1 Onsite/Hybrid) – Fulltime

Mode of Work: 3 days/week onsite required

Required Experience: 6 years

Role Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled Cortex / Snowflake AI Engineer to design, build, and operationalize AI‑driven data solutions within our enterprise Snowflake platform. This role focuses on leveraging Snowflake Cortex, Snowpark, and Snowflake’s AI/ML capabilities to deliver scalable, secure, and high‑performance data and AI products for analytics, automation, and decision intelligence.

The ideal candidate brings deep Snowflake expertise, strong data engineering fundamentals, and hands‑on experience building AI/ML workloads in cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement AI-powered solutions across multiple supplier services functions including third-party management, contract management, and accounts payable
• Build and deploy AI-based helpdesk/support solutions that business teams can adopt - not just demo
• Develop analytical intelligence capabilities over 150,000 procurement contracts to enable better sourcing decisions
• Work with structured and unstructured data, including document processing pipelines
• Implement solutions using Snowflake Cortex and related AI/ML tooling already in production at the client
• Collaborate directly with business stakeholders - present solutions, onboard users, manage adoption with senior managers
• Work alongside Wissen's offshore delivery team to ensure seamless implementation across time zones

Must-Have Qualifications

• 7-10 years of hands-on engineering experience with at least 3 years focused on AI/ML implementation (not just analytics or traditional data engineering)
• Strong working knowledge of LLMs, RAG architectures, vector databases, and AI agents - you should be building with these, not just reading about them
• Experience with Snowflake Cortex or similar cloud-native AI platforms (Databricks, Azure AI, Vertex AI)
• Proven ability to take AI solutions from design to production - not just POCs and demos
• Experience processing both structured data (SQL, Snowflake, data pipelines) and unstructured data (documents, contracts, NLP)
• Excellent communication skills - you will present to VPs/Directors and drive adoption with non-technical business users
• Based in or willing to relocate to New York - this is an onsite role

Good-to-Have

• Investment banking or financial services domain experience, particularly in procurement, supplier management, or contract analytics
• Experience with Snowflake Cortex REST API, Streamlit, or similar front-end tooling for AI applications
• Familiarity with procurement platforms such as Ariba, Coupa, or similar supplier management systems
• Experience driving AI adoption in large enterprises - change management, user training, stakeholder buy-in
• Snowflake certifications (SnowPro Core, GenAI Specialty)

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands‑on experience with Snowflake, including Snow park, Streams, Tasks, RBAC, and performance tuning.
• Practical experience building AI/ML solutions using Snowflake Cortex (LLM functions, vector search, semantic models, etc.).
• Proficiency in Python and SQL for data engineering and model development.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and integrating Snowflake with cloud-native services.
• Solid understanding of data engineering principles: ETL/ELT, data modeling, orchestration, and pipeline automation.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployment workflows.
• Familiarity with streaming technologies such as Kafka, Kinesis, or Pub/Sub.

Nice-to-Have

• Experience in BFSI, trading, or capital markets environments.
• Exposure to real-time analytics, low-latency data systems, or event-driven architectures.
• Knowledge of dbt, Airflow, or similar orchestration tools.
• Experience with vector databases, LLM integration, or generative AI workloads.
• Understanding of Snowflake Native Apps and marketplace integrations.
