What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Assistant position at Wise Family?
Part-Time Family Assistant – Household Management, Organization & Occasional Childcare
I am looking for an exceptional, dependable Family Assistant to help me get my household organized and running more smoothly.
I am a busy working professional and parent looking for a trusted, long-term person who can become an extra set of capable hands in our household.
To start, I would ideally like to schedule an intensive full week together so we can tackle accumulated household projects, organization, errands, systems, and other priorities all at once. After that initial week, I anticipate transitioning to approximately one consistent day per week, with the possibility of additional hours when mutually available.
This is a unique role for someone who genuinely enjoys organizing, problem-solving, multitasking, helping a household run smoothly, and spending time with a toddler.
This is not primarily a housekeeping or nanny position. The ideal person is a highly organized, proactive generalist who enjoys variety and is comfortable tackling whatever would be most helpful that day.
Responsibilities May Include
- Organizing closets, cabinets, storage areas, toys, clothing, and household supplies
- Creating organizational systems and helping maintain them
- Running errands, including Amazon/package returns, post office trips, donations, shopping, and pickups
- Grocery shopping and meal preparation
- Light cleaning, laundry, tidying, and household upkeep
- Assembling furniture or household items and helping with small home projects
- Researching products or solutions and helping solve everyday household challenges
- Coordinating deliveries, appointments, repairs, or service providers
- Miscellaneous personal assistant and household management tasks
- Occasionally caring for my young child when unexpected scheduling needs arise
You must genuinely enjoy children and be comfortable caring for a young child. Childcare is not the primary responsibility, but I am hoping to find someone I can eventually trust as an occasional backup caregiver when needed.
Medical Background Strongly Preferred
A healthcare or emergency-response background is strongly preferred, such as RN, LPN, retired nurse, medical assistant, EMT/paramedic, CNA, nursing student, or similar experience.
I have a history of significant allergies and occasionally need another responsible adult present while introducing a new food or supplement. During this time, you would simply continue working on normal household tasks while being available if assistance were unexpectedly needed. A calm, safety-conscious person who can follow an established emergency plan is ideal.
This position does not involve providing medical care or making medical decisions.
The Ideal Candidate
You are someone who:
- Is exceptionally organized and detail-oriented
- Loves creating order and efficient systems
- Is a proactive problem solver
- Can work independently without constant direction
- Notices what needs to be done and takes initiative
- Is reliable, trustworthy, punctual, and discreet
- Enjoys variety and can easily switch between different types of tasks
- Is calm under pressure
- Loves children and enjoys being around them
- Is looking for a long-term relationship with one family
Backgrounds that may be a great fit include healthcare, executive or personal assistance, office management, household management, professional organizing, childcare, education, or similar roles requiring strong organization and independent judgment.
Schedule
The position will ideally begin with an initial full week or two of concentrated help so we can make significant progress organizing the home, completing projects, and creating systems that will make everyday life easier.
Following that initial week, I anticipate approximately one consistent day each week or several part time days (I can be flexible), with opportunities for additional hours when mutually available.
Some flexibility for occasional additional household help or childcare is a plus, although I understand advance notice is not always possible.
Requirements
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent problem-solving abilities
- Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
- Ability to provide professional references
- Comfortable running local errands
- Ability to pass a background check
- Must genuinely enjoy children
- Infant/child CPR certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
- Healthcare or emergency-response experience strongly preferred
About This Role

If you are the type of person who walks into a home and naturally starts thinking about how to improve it, enjoys checking projects off a list, loves organizing, takes pride in helping others, and would enjoy becoming a trusted part of a family's support system, I would love to hear from you.
When applying, please tell me about your background, why this type of role interests you, your experience with children/toddlers, any healthcare or medical experience you may have, your availability for an initial full week, and your typical weekly availability afterward.
