What are the responsibilities and job description for the Somatic Practitioner position at Wise Body Solutions?
Somatic Practitioner – Integrated Clinical Movement Studio
Wise Body Solutions | Downtown Plymouth, MI
Employment Type: 1099 Collaborative Model
Schedule: Part-time to start, with room to grow
Compensation: Split or room rental structure — discussed with right candidate
This Is a Different Kind of Practice Home
If you’ve trained in a modality that most people haven’t heard of — and spent years explaining why it works — this post is for you.
Wise Body Solutions is a clinical movement studio opening in downtown Plymouth. We’re built around reformer-based Pilates, manual therapy, and long-term functional outcomes. We take the nervous system seriously. We take movement seriously. And we’re looking for a practitioner who does too.
We’re building an interdisciplinary team — one where a Physical Therapist, a Rolfer, and a somatic practitioner aren’t just sharing a building, they’re sharing a clinical philosophy. If you work in EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, Feldenkrais, or an adjacent trauma-informed or nervous system-based modality, we want to hear from you.
What This Looks Like in Practice
- Individual sessions in a private, beautifully appointed treatment room in a historic downtown Victorian building
- A warm referral pipeline from an integrated clinical team — your caseload doesn’t start from zero
- Clients who are already invested in their health and open to somatic approaches — not a cold population
- No insurance billing. No production targets. Your work, your way.
- Group format welcomed and supported — if your modality includes group instruction (ATM, psychoeducation, regulation skills), there’s space for that here
You’re the Right Fit If
- Hold a relevant certification or license: EMDRIA-trained or certified, SEP (Somatic Experiencing Practitioner), Feldenkrais Guild certified, or a licensed therapist with a somatic
- Want a clinical home without the overhead of building one from scratch
- Are drawn to working alongside movement and manual therapy practitioners — not in isolation from them
- Can articulate what you do to a curious, educated client who’s never heard of your modality
- Are interested in building a caseload over time, not filling one immediately
This Isn’t the Right Role If
- Are looking for a sublease with no collaborative
- Prefer a purely independent model with no team integration
- Aren’t open to occasional cross-referral or informal case consultation with the broader clinical team
About the Studio
Wise Body Solutions is housed in an 1890 Victorian building in the heart of downtown Plymouth — the kind of space that immediately communicates that something different happens here. Our owner brings 18 years of clinical bodywork and movement experience as a Certified Rolfer and Licensed Massage Therapist. The team is being built deliberately, with a long view.
You won’t be a tenant. You’ll be a collaborator.
