What are the responsibilities and job description for the Reformer Pilates Instructor position at Wise Body Solutions?
Reformer Pilates Instructor – Clinical Movement Studio
Wise Body Solutions | Downtown Plymouth, MI
Employment Type: W-2
Schedule: Part-time to start, with room to grow
Compensation: $40/hour
This Is a Different Kind of Teaching Role
If you’ve spent time in a large group reformer class thinking I can’t actually see what’s happening with half these people — this post is for you.
Wise Body Solutions is a clinical movement studio opening in downtown Plymouth. We’re built around intentional, small-group reformer instruction, manual therapy, and long-term functional outcomes. We are a clinic — not a boutique fitness studio. The difference matters here.
We’re looking for a Reformer Pilates Instructor who is as comfortable modifying for a post-surgical shoulder as they are cueing a strong mover to go deeper. Our clients are health-invested adults who come with histories — and they deserve an instructor who knows what to do with that.
What Your Days Look Like
- Small-group reformer classes — intentionally capped to allow real eyes on every body in the room
- A client base that skews toward professionals, 35–65, with chronic pain histories, post-rehab goals, and genuine commitment to their movement practice
- Close collaboration with our Physical Therapist, Rolfer, and clinical team — you’re not teaching in a vacuum
- A studio where “this client has a fused L4-L5 and a replaced hip” is a normal sentence, not a red flag
You’re the Right Fit If You:
- Hold a comprehensive Pilates certification (apparatus-inclusive)
- Have real experience teaching reformer in small group or semi-private format
- Are genuinely confident — not just willing — to modify in real time for injury, hypermobility, post-surgical presentations, and complex movement histories
- Can read a room and read a body — simultaneously
- Thrive in a collaborative clinical environment and are curious about how movement integrates with manual therapy and somatic work
- Are interested in growing with a studio, not just filling a shift
This Isn’t the Right Role If You:
- Are most comfortable teaching a scripted class to a uniform
- Prefer high-volume, large-format
- Aren’t confident making on-the-spot modifications for clients with complex
- Are looking for a side gig rather than a clinical home
About the Studio
Wise Body Solutions is housed in an 1890 Victorian building in the heart of downtown Plymouth — a space built to signal that something different happens here. Our owner brings 18 years of clinical bodywork and movement experience as a Certified Rolfer and Licensed Massage Therapist. The studio is being built deliberately, with a team that talks to each other and a clientele that notices the difference.
You won’t be handed a playlist and a class template. You’ll be trusted to teach.
