Data Engineer

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable data platforms and pipelines that support enterprise analytics and business decision-making. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Azure data technologies, ETL/ELT development, data modeling, and Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance data environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and enhance the Guidewire Enterprise Data Warehouse.
- Design and implement scalable cloud/on-prem data platforms.
- Develop and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory, SSIS, Databricks, and SQL.
- Build and optimize data models for analytics, reporting, and AI/ML initiatives.
- Ensure data quality, governance, security, and compliance standards.
- Integrate data from multiple sources, APIs, and streaming platforms.
- Enable self-service analytics and modern data solutions.
- Collaborate with business and IT teams to deliver data-driven solutions.
- Manage Jira tickets, support multiple projects, and mentor junior team members.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or related field.
- 5 years of Data Engineering/Data Architecture experience.
- Strong experience with Azure Data Platform, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, SQL, and ETL/ELT processes.
- Experience with big data and streaming technologies such as Kafka, Spark, or Flink.
- Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance standards.
- Experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
- Familiarity with Jira and Agile environments.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Guidewire InsuranceSuite (PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, ClaimCenter).
- Data Lakehouse and Data Mesh architecture experience.
- Knowledge of Graph/NoSQL databases, AI/ML, and MLOps.
- Azure Data Engineer Associate (or higher) certification.
