Position Summary
The Plastic Extrusion Engineer plans, designs, and completes projects in extrusion manufacturing. Creates and implements new products/processes. Works with all functions within the Company and with outside vendors to coordinate implementation of new capital manufacturing equipment and processes to optimize production and increase capacity.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design & develop new plastic extrusion tooling, and implement new tooling.
2. Coordinates research & development of new plastic tooling.
3. Involved in improvement and support of manufacturing production and the quality process.
4. Perform cost improvement projects and quality improvement projects to reach manufacturing goals.
5. Implement and modify manufacturing task documents in coordination with new tooling and process improvements.
6. Participate in the selection of extrusion compounds.
7. Ensure all test methods specified in acceptance or installation protocols are properly defined and have acceptable measurement systems.
8. Maintain a safe work environment.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, or related field.
· 2–5 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
· Proficiency in CAD software and Microsoft Office applications.
· Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles (certification preferred).
· Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
