CNC Lathe Machinist

We are looking for an experienced CNC Lathe Machinist to work day shift 4 10 hour shifts.

Job Summary

Sets up, program, edit and operates a CNC Lathe machine and machining centers to perform a series of intricate and/or complex machining operations to produce a variety of machined parts while adhering to internal and customer-driven quality standards and scheduling requirements in a metal fabrication environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Sets up, program, edit and operate CNC machines/machining centers as required to produce a wide variety of machined parts.
• Reads work orders, prints and/or drawings to select type and size of metal stock and to determine quantity, dimensions and tolerances of parts.
• Follows setup procedures, operates and adjusts multi-axis CNC controlled machines/machining centers
• Adjusts machine controls to meet variable machining conditions.
• Downloads operating program to CNC console and verifies there are no computer problems or data discrepancies present. May be required to manually program using G and M codes as well.
• Produces the first piece of a product in a run, inspects the piece for conformance to specifications by using standard measuring tools and then finishes the production run maintaining quality standards throughout the run.
• Monitors and evaluates machine operation; troubleshoots production problems, their causes and takes appropriate corrective action.
• Reports improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions to the Team Leader.
• Maintains necessary records and workflow processes.
• Maintains work area and equipment in a safe, clean and orderly condition.
• Knows and complies with all personal, machine and facility safety practices and regulations; understands and follows company workplace rules.

Essential Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift 0 – 50 pounds frequently; 50 – 75 pounds occasionally; over 75 pounds rarely.
• Must be able to routinely stand, sit, stoop, twist and bend throughout a nine-hour shift.
• Must have excellent manual dexterity and some ambidexterity.
• Visual acuity (corrected) required for reading machine controls, written material, blueprints and precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of parts.
• Hearing ability sufficient to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate action.

Education and Experience Required

• Two years’ experience in machine operation in fabrication and machining industry preferred.
• High School Diploma / GED required.
• Vocational / Technical degree preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 - $30.00 per hour
