Diesel Mechanic – Wisconsin Hardwoods LLC
Location: Mason, WI
Wage: $30-$40 per hour (based on experience)
About Us
Wisconsin Hardwoods LLC is a family-owned sawmill and logging/trucking operation serving Northern Wisconsin. We maintain a fleet of log trucks, flatbeds, loaders, heavy equipment, and mill machinery. We are looking for a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team and help keep our equipment fleet safe, reliable, and productive.
Position Summary
The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing diesel engines, logging equipment, and mill-related machinery. This position plays a critical role in minimizing downtime and supporting daily operations.
Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, brakes, and electrical systems
- Perform preventative maintenance on semis, log trucks, loaders, dozers, excavators, and sawmill machinery
- Troubleshoot mechanical and hydraulic failures in the field and in the shop
- Conduct DOT-related inspections and document maintenance records
- Order parts and maintain shop inventory as needed
- Weld and fabricate as necessary for repairs
- Keep shop environment organized, safe, and OSHA compliant
- Respond to equipment breakdowns during operating hours as needed
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a diesel mechanic or heavy equipment mechanic preferred
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and diesel diagnostics
- Ability to read and interpret service manuals and schematics
- Welding/fabrication experience a plus
- CDL or willingness to obtain is preferred but not required
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Schedule & Compensation
- Full-time position
- Pay range: $30-$40 per hour, depending on experience and skill level
- Overtime opportunities available
