JOB SUMMARY
Under supervision, the Bracket 1 Employee safely and efficiently operates production, Lab and/or warehouse equipment, including but not limited to, depalletizers, fillers, packers, palletizers, forklifts, sanitation and recycling equipment; performs equipment set-up to assigned production line and monitors the production process. Performs chemical or instrumental analyses to determine that material being processed meets the company-required formulas and standards; drives a doublewide pallet-handling forklift truck for the purpose of loading and unloading trucks in the function of shipping or receiving finished goods or raw materials, maintaining the prescribed stock rotation requirements, line loading and sorting empty pallets, moving material to and from the loading platform, and from the palletizer to proper storage locations in the warehouse. This position will also perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Person and Management.
JOB DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (Note: These job functions relate to the job, not the individual.)
- Understand, follow, and enforce all established safety, health, quality, Food Safety, GMP and Company policies, procedures, and recognized practices.
- Know the purpose and follow proper operation of all safety switches, interlocks and safety devices.
- Maintain work area to acceptable safety and housekeeping standards.
- Check can and case codes frequently for accuracy and legibility.
- Complete package/flavor changeovers accurately and timely.
- Perform preventive maintenance, diagnose, and resolve mechanical issues with equipment.
- Perform production line set-up and monitor process. Troubleshoot problems as they arise and record.
- Operate a doublewide pallet-handling forklift truck to remove finished product from palletizers and transport to storage. Monitor the quality of all products or raw materials being shipped or received. Report any inconsistencies in the quality of materials shipped or received to management.
- Transport materials within the warehouse; stack and unstack materials. Sort, remove and replace damaged product. Sort empty pallets and shells.
- Operate stretch wrap machines, as required.
- Change forklift batteries and/or fill batteries with water, as needed.
- Operate a floor scrubber as directed.
- Hand-stack and sort product when needed. Bail recyclable materials when required.
- Substitute for other employees in other job classifications when needed.
- Follow escalation protocol in a timely manner when troubleshooting efforts fail. Work closely with maintenance when escalation to maintenance support is needed for a mechanical issue
- Complete and file all required quality and packaging documentation in an orderly and timely manner.
- Notify leads and supervisors of any major problems or questions, including Quality or Food Safety concerns.
- Communicate processing information to designated personnel on incoming shift.
- Routinely communicate with up/down stream operators to maximize line performance and ensure product integrity.
- Ensure work area meets 5S guidelines.
- Perform any other job-related duties requested by the Supervisor or Lead.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent education.
- Minimum of 2 years previous experience in a fast-paced production/manufacturing environment.
- Able to read, write, and communicate in English. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Must exhibit ability and desire to work within a team but have the ability to work alone.
- Works with minimal supervision, be a self-starter who leads by example, and be dependable.
- Ability to prioritize and plan work activities under pressure.
- Some mechanical ability to assist in daily operation of equipment.
- Must be able to drive a forklift and have the ability to pass the test for Forklift Operators License.
- Ability to problem solve by adjusting variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to walk or stand for prolonged periods; ability to bend, stoop, reach and lift up to 90 pounds.
- Must be able to work in temperatures of 80 degrees or more.
- Must exhibit flexibility and willingness to perform tasks as needed.
