About the Opportunity
A growing logistics and materials transportation organization is seeking an experienced Transportation Operations Supervisor to lead daily fleet coordination and material delivery operations. This role is responsible for overseeing transportation activities, optimizing resource utilization, supporting drivers and field personnel, and ensuring the safe and efficient movement of materials to multiple project locations.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong logistics experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily transportation schedules to ensure timely delivery of materials and resources.
- Serve as the primary liaison between field operations, customers, drivers, and leadership teams.
- Direct and support fleet activities while maximizing equipment and personnel utilization.
- Monitor transportation performance and make real-time adjustments to meet operational demands.
- Lead regular safety discussions and reinforce compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Review driver time records, production reports, and operational documentation for accuracy.
- Utilize fleet management and tracking systems to monitor vehicle activity, productivity, and maintenance needs.
- Investigate and document incidents, service interruptions, or operational concerns and assist in implementing corrective actions.
- Assist with workforce planning, scheduling, and resource allocation to support business objectives.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, communication, and service delivery.
- Support additional operational initiatives and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of experience in transportation, logistics, dispatching, fleet management, or a related operational leadership role.
- Strong understanding of transportation scheduling, routing, and fleet coordination.
- Proven ability to lead teams and effectively manage competing priorities.
- Experience utilizing fleet tracking, dispatch, or transportation management software.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Outlook.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including occasional evenings, weekends, or extended hours as business needs require.
- Commitment to safety, accountability, and operational excellence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or previous commercial driving experience.
- Experience supporting construction, transportation, aggregate, manufacturing, or field service operations.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent walking, standing, and movement between office and operational environments.
- Occasional lifting, carrying, or moving materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in varying weather and site conditions as needed.
