Job Title: Telematics Coordinator
Job Summary: The Telematics Coordinator is responsible for managing and coordinating the deployment, operation, and maintenance of telematics systems used to monitor and track fleet vehicles and assets. This role involves overseeing the integration of telematics devices, ensuring data accuracy, troubleshooting system issues, and providing technical support to end users. The Telematics Coordinator will work closely with various departments to optimize fleet management, improve operational efficiency, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards. This position reports to the Fleet Director and will be based out of the Birmingham Home Office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Telematics System Management:
- Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of telematics devices on fleet vehicles and equipment.
- Ensure systems are functioning correctly and collect accurate data from the fleet, including GPS location, vehicle diagnostics, and driver behavior.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshooting issues as they arise, collaborating with technical teams or vendors for resolution.
- Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Analyze data collected from telematics systems to generate reports on fleet performance, fuel consumption, and maintenance needs.
- Prepare regular reports on telematics metrics, including fleet utilization, maintenance schedules, and other reports as needed.
- Technical Support & Training:
- Offer technical support and troubleshooting assistance to our shop personnel regarding telematics hardware or software issues.
- Develop and deliver training materials or sessions to educate staff on how to use telematics systems effectively, including best practices for vehicle operation and safety.
- Fleet Optimization:
- Collaborate with the Fleet Director to optimize fuel efficiency and reduce operational costs using telematics data.
- Identify underutilized fleet by various telematics platforms to produce reports and make recommendations to improve utilization to the Fleet Director.
- Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure telematics systems are compliant with relevant regulations and industry standards, including data privacy laws and safety requirements.
- Work with the safety and compliance teams to track and enforce adherence to fleet safety programs and driving policies.
- Vendor and Supplier Relations:
- Coordinate with telematics device vendors and service providers to ensure timely installation, updates, and service of telematics systems.
- Manage contracts, performance metrics, and vendor relationships to ensure the telematics system meets organizational needs.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in telematics and fleet management technology.
- Suggest system enhancements or upgrades to improve fleet performance and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).
- Proven experience with telematics systems and fleet management technologies.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with data interpretation and reporting.
- Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and technical support abilities.
- Proficiency in telematics software and related tools.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to train and support users at various technical skill levels.
- Knowledge of fleet safety regulations and best practices.
Desired Skills:
- Experience with fleet management software and GPS tracking systems.
- Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau, Power BI).
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Work Environment:
- Office-based with occasional site visits to monitor fleet vehicles or telematics equipment installations.
- Occasional travel may be required.
This role is essential for ensuring that telematics systems are effectively used to enhance fleet management operations, contributing to the organization’s overall efficiency and safety goals. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
