What are the responsibilities and job description for the Licensed Mental Health Professional position at Winterspring Sanctuary?
Winterspring Sanctuary is seeking a part-time Licensed Mental Health Professional, an LPC/LCSW or a LPC or LSW with a clinical supervisor, to join our team in Catawissa in Central Pennsylvania. As a member of Winterspring Sanctuary, you'll be an integral part of our vision to bring equine-assisted therapy to many members of our community in need.
Winterspring Sanctuary is a non-profit organization founded in 2024 by a group of horse-first equestrians from various professional backgrounds who believe wholly in the healing power of working with horses. Alongside Equine Assisted Learning (EAL), Winterspring practices certified Eagala (Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association) therapy sessions where a Licensed Mental Health Professional and an equine specialist lead sessions together with horses. Ground-based (ie. no horseback riding) and solution-oriented makes this model accessible to a variety of individuals.
The team at Winterspring creates a solution-oriented space where clients feel empowered to explore and heal through guided experiences that engage both body and mind. We are proud to be one of the few programs in the region certified in the Eagala Model, which is globally recognized and practiced in over 40 countries.
As a Licensed Mental Health Professional at Winterspring, you will co-facilitate sessions for individuals with a wide variety of challenges that reflect the needs of our diverse client population.
Primary Responsibilities
- Co-facilitate Eagala sessions which will consist of an equine specialist, at least one equine participant and a client.
- Focus on the client’s emotional process, watching for therapeutic opportunities and ensuring psychological safety.
- Provide support for clients with mental health conditions including trauma, addiction and behavior disorders.
- Systematically track session and treatment plans and evaluate changes in clinical presentation and growth throughout treatment sessions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and clinical documentation within Winterspring’s Electronic Health Record software, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Participate in our client growth strategy by providing a profile for online directories and other marketing efforts

Required Qualifications
- Active license as LCSW, LSW, LPC, or Psy.D., in the state of Pennsylvania. If you haven’t finished your supervised clinical hours, you must have an already established clinical supervisor.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience providing licensed clinical services to individuals and families.
- Some horsemanship knowledge or comfortability around horses.
- Demonstrated ability to be open-minded and solution-oriented while working collaboratively.
