Key Responsibilities
- Provide personalized support and assistance to individuals with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication management, and household tasks.
- Foster positive relationships with individuals, families, and guardians, promoting effective communication and collaboration to meet the individual's needs and goals.
- Implement person-centered plans and goals, ensuring the individual's preference, choices, and rights are respected and upheld.
- Facilitate community integration and participation in recreational, social, and vocational activities, promoting independence and inclusion.
- Monitor and document individual progress, behaviors, and any significant changes, maintaining accurate records and reports as required.
- Respond effectively to emergencies, following established protocols and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including healthcare professionals, therapists, and case managers, to coordinate comprehensive care and support services.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in the field of developmental disabilities.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred, but not required; we provide comprehensive training and support for new team members.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trusting relationships with individuals, families, and team members.
- Compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting individuals with diverse needs and abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, demonstrating flexibility, adaptability, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required for community-based activities and transportation of individual as needed. If working in a licensed Winter Family Care setting, company vehicles are provided. If providing IHS services, reliable transportation is required.
