Overnight- Direct Support Professional

Provide Safety, Stability, and Support While Others Sleep

Twin Ports Children Services (TPCS) is seeking compassionate, dependable, and attentive Overnight Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join our team. TPCS is a Minnesota 245D licensed provider of corporate foster care services for children and adolescents with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, mental health diagnoses, and complex behavioral support needs.

As an Overnight DSP, you are responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of the individuals we support throughout the night. While many overnight shifts are quiet, this position requires staff who are alert, dependable, and prepared to respond appropriately to behavioral, medical, or emergency situations. Your presence provides reassurance and continuity of care while helping maintain a safe and supportive home environment.

Position Responsibilities

As an Overnight Direct Support Professional, you will:

• Maintain active supervision and ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals throughout the overnight shift.
• Conduct routine safety checks and monitor for medical, behavioral, or environmental concerns.
• Respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies, medical concerns, or behavioral situations in accordance with company policies and training.
• Assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as needed, including toileting, hygiene, dressing, repositioning, and other overnight care needs while preserving dignity and respect.
• Administer medications after successful completion of required Minnesota medication administration training and company competency requirements.
• Accurately complete medication documentation, overnight logs, progress notes, and incident reports in accordance with Minnesota 245D requirements and company policies.
• Prepare individuals for morning routines when applicable, including hygiene, breakfast preparation, and readiness for school or appointments.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe living environment by completing assigned overnight housekeeping responsibilities, laundry, and household tasks.
• Communicate significant events, behavioral concerns, medical issues, and other important information to incoming staff during shift change.
• Follow each individual's Person-Centered Support Plan, Positive Support strategies, and behavior intervention plans while promoting independence and respecting individual rights.
• Participate in required trainings and maintain all certifications required by Minnesota DHS and Twin Ports Children Services.

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to pass all Minnesota DHS background study requirements.
• Ability to complete required 245D orientation and ongoing training.
• Previous experience working overnight in a group home, residential program, healthcare setting, or with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, mental illness, or behavioral support needs is preferred but not required.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred (training may be provided).
• Strong observation skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently during overnight hours.
• Excellent communication, organization, and documentation skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, transfer, push, or assist individuals as needed.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform routine household tasks throughout the shift.
• Ability to remain awake, alert, and responsive for the duration of the overnight shift.
• Ability to respond quickly during behavioral or medical emergencies.
