About the Opportunity
Winston Staffing has partnered with a prominent retail operations leader to find an energetic, resourceful, and people-focused HR Generalist. This is a dynamic, hands-on role perfect for an HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys being visible on the floor, supporting a diverse and active workforce.
In this role, you will manage day-to-day HR functions across your designated operations, serving as a critical partner to store management, driving employee engagement, and ensuring a positive, compliant workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Employee Relations & Culture: Manage day-to-day employee relations issues, providing objective guidance, conflict resolution, and support to both hourly staff and management. Focus on creating a positive, collaborative work environment.
- Talent Acquisition & Onboarding: Support the full recruitment lifecycle—including managing job postings, screening resumes, interviewing, and driving an engaging onboarding experience for new hires to minimize turnover.
- Compliance & Records Management: Maintain accurate, up-to-date employee records while ensuring strict compliance with company policies and federal, state, and local employment laws.
- Performance & Training: Facilitate annual performance review cycles, guide managers through performance management processes, and support localized training initiatives.
- Labor Support: Serve as a collaborative point of contact for employee inquiries regarding workplace policies, including interacting with localized workforce representatives as needed. Prior Labor / Union experience is a plus.
- Payroll & Benefits Liaison: Coordinate closely with the centralized payroll department to assist with localized payroll processing and benefits administration inquiries.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience: 2 years of prior HR experience, with a strong preference for candidates coming out of retail, hospitality, food & beverage, customer service, or fast-paced operations environments.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Environment: Comfortable working in a high-volume, dynamic environment with an hourly employee population. Exposure to or familiarity with unionized environments is a plus, but not required.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Suite and standard HRIS/payroll platforms.
- Core Competencies: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong organizational attention to detail, and the ability to navigate sensitive, confidential situations with extreme discretion.
