Position Summary
Winston-Salem State University is looking for a University Library Technician. This position provides access services assistance and oversight during daytime library hours, 3:00pm-12:00am. The role of this position is to maintain the services at the circulation desk, including, checking in and out material, maintaining the textbook collection, supervising student assistants, and shelving books. This position works Sunday through Thursday.

- Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and the general public
- Actively listen to the needs of the patrons and determine how best to assist them
- Act as one of the first points of contact with patrons in the library
- Check material in and out to patrons
- Connect patrons with additional materials or services when needed.
- Utilize the library’s catalog to provide services to patrons, and utilize the fulfillment modules of the library’s system
- Troubleshoot copiers, printers, and scanners
- Communicate the needs of the patrons with other staff members in order to find materials or complete research
- Explain procedures for how to obtain materials both within the university library and from other resources
- Oversee student workers, plan their work and shfits
- Organize the ciruclation desk during the evening hours
- Provide management with detail reports of circulation desk needs
