General Statement of Duties
The person selected for this position will direct and oversee the supervision of the Extended Day Counselors and will be responsible for providing a safe, caring, and enriching environment for the children enrolled in the WSCS Extended Day Program. The Coordinator will ensure all counselors are complying with the standards set forth by the North Carolina DHHS and the Policies and Procedures set forth by WSCS.

The Coordinator will ensure all counselors are complying with the standards set forth by the North Carolina DHHS and the Policies and Procedures set forth by WSCS.
Essential Functions Of Extended Day Afterschool Program Coordinator
- Assist the Coordinator will hold a monthly meetings
- Work in a team environment and encourage open communication regarding concerns/issues with children, parents or co-workers
- Communicate with Extended Day counselors and assist with the oversight of the operations of afternoon care
- Maintain a positive attitude with all students, parents and co-workers
- Familiarize yourself with the children and necessary emergency information for each child
- Ensure Counselors are keeping accurate headcount and attendance records
- Familiarize yourself with the daily activity schedules and any changes due to room availability
- Comply and familiarize yourself with the emergency exit procedure
- Maintain all supplies and equipment and purchase additional supplies when needed
- Ensure that all students and staff are respectful of school property and the rules are followed
- Consistently demonstrate a positive interaction with all children; talk to them and treat them with dignity and respect
- Consistently demonstrate positive discipline; teach and redirect rather than scold or reprimand; firmly and consistently enforce the rules; ensure that punishment fits the crime
- Consistently reaffirm children in a positive manner with constant interaction and play
- Always acknowledge the parent when in their presence; express appreciation for their interest in child’s participation in the program
- Oversight of Cell phones and other electronic equipment must be turned off while caring for children
- Ensure Counselors are required to carry a walkie-talkie at all times and communicate when moving to their next assigned location
