The Winston Prouty Center will be opening a Family Shelter on it's campus in Brattleboro, Vermont in the fall of 2025, and we are seeking a team to ensure the safety and well-being of shelter residents on mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrating knowledge and consistent implementation of all shelter policies and procedures.
- Supporting families to understand and follow all policies and procedures.
- Maintaining a safe, clean, respectful environment for all shelter residents and colleagues.
- Communicating problems immediately to supervisor.
- Seeking support and guidance in urgent situations, knowing when to seek emergency services.
- Modeling healthy communication and a positive demeanor with all shelter residents and colleagues.
- Maintaining required shelter documentation.
- Supporting parents and families during busy or transitional times of day (e.g. weekday mornings, evenings at bedtime, etc).
- Serving as mandated reporter to appropriate social service agencies.
- Maintaining confidentiality as required by the Winston Prouty Center, state and federal regulations.

Required Qualifications
- Establish strong working relationships with program participants, colleagues, and community members.

- Support families in a trauma-informed environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associates degree in human services or a related field.
- Two or more years of experience working with families with young children who have been homeless or at risk of homelessness.
Available shifts
- 6:00 am – 10:00 am, Monday – Friday
- 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Monday – Friday
- 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, Saturday and Sunday
- 4:00 pm – 12:00 am, 7 days a week
Position requires a minimum of 12 hours per week.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 12 – 32 per week
