Organization Overview

The Winston Prouty Center for Child and Family Development (WPC) is the regional hub for inclusive and responsive family support in southeastern Vermont. WPC’s programs include early intervention services, home-visiting nursing for prenatal and postpartum care, parenting support, early childhood and family mental health care, housing services, supervised visitation services, food assistance, child care referral and financial assistance services, a high-quality Early Learning Center, and mobile literacy enrichment through the Early Learning Express Bookmobile. The organization also owns and operates a 184 campus property that is the home to over 40 mission drive organizations and businesses and shares its forests, walking trails, and sports field with community.

Job Summary

The Development Assistant is a key member of the Winston Prouty Development Team. The Development Team works to support the financial goals of the organization to ensure long-term sustainability, to raise the profile of the organization, and to empower staff to be ambassadors in the community. Position includes some evening and weekend hours when events are held.

The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, curious, creative, eager to engage with colleagues, and have a desire to make and strengthen connections with individuals and businesses in the community in the pursuit of advancing organization's mission.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and publish marketing materials such as flyers, press releases, signs, etc. to promote the Center’s programs and events.
  • Collaborate on strategic social media content plan and generate content for various social media channels and website.
  • Support the Center’s grant writing activities by researching funding opportunities, gathering content from program staff and maintaining accurate tracking of application and reporting deadlines
  • Assist in the creation of donor communications and fundraising materials including annual appeals, impact reports, and acknowledgement letters.
  • Maintain accurate constituent profiles in database including timely gift entry, capturing contact reports and management of tasks and workflows
  • Plan and participate in all key fundraisings events throughout the year
  • Build relationships with business community by co-creating annual sponsorship offering, identifying and soliciting prospects, and designing benefits such as print and video ads, spotlight articles and commemorative displays
  • Support the activities to expand planned giving program
  • Accept other project assignments as needed.

Requirements

  • At least one year of experience working in non-profit development, fundraising, or similar environment.
  • Experience in event planning or project management
  • Basic computer skills required; familiarity with CRM systems and experience with social media management, graphic design software and email marketing platforms strongly preferred.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Willingness to connect with community members and businesses to invite partnerships and solicit donations.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
