What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lead Organizer position at Winnow & Bloom?
ABOUT US
Winnow & Bloom is a home organizing and concierge move-management company based in the Boston area. We work with busy families and professionals who want their homes to feel calmer, easier to live in, and genuinely functional — not just photo-ready. Every project blends thoughtful systems, real care for the client, and a steady, professional presence.
THE ROLE
As a Lead Organizer, you run the day: coordinating the team, setting the pace, and determining how the work flows. You hold the standard and guide clients through decisions that are rarely just about the stuff. This is part-time, flexible, and suited to someone who cares about doing the work correctly and wants to be trusted to run it.
DETAILS
- Status: Part-time W2 employee
- Reports to: Founder, coordinating day to day with our Operations Manager
- Hours: 15–25 hours/week, typically between 9 AM and 3 PM, Monday through Friday. Hours are not guaranteed and vary based on project flow.
- Availability: 3–5 days/week required. You submit your weekly availability and we schedule based on project needs.
- Compensation: $35/hour while working alongside an experienced Lead, moving to $40–45/hour once you're running projects independently
- Travel: Mileage reimbursement and paid travel time for client locations beyond standard commuting thresholds (per Company policy)
- Benefits: MA Earned Sick Time, workers' comp coverage, and standard employer payroll contributions
WHAT YOU’LL DO
On-Site
- Greet clients, set expectations for the day, and confirm priorities before work begins
- Set the plan for the day against the agreed end goal, and adjust as it develops
- Assign zones and tasks to Associate Organizers with clarity
- Model our standards directly: folding, labeling, styling, system installation, finishing details
- Coach Associates in the moment using our I-Do, We-Do, You-Do approach
- Monitor quality across zones and catch inconsistencies before the client does
- Anticipate what's coming: timeline pressure, supply gaps, vendor delays, a client who's overwhelmed
- Handle those situations without transmitting stress to your team or the client
- Run the final walkthrough against what was agreed and confirm the client understands how to maintain the systems
- Leave every space styled, functional, and photo-ready
Administrative
- Take part in client walkthroughs, in person or virtual, to read the space and scope the work
- Send an intro text prior to project day so you're a familiar name on arrival
- Review the client brief, priorities, and supply list
- Confirm team assignments and logistics with the Operations Manager
- Capture before and after photos and upload to Google Drive, labeled correctly
- Submit a project debrief: what worked, what didn't, what the client needs next
- Give Associates useful feedback and mentor new hires through their first projects
- Flag process gaps, supply shortages, and client patterns so we can improve the system
WHO THRIVES HERE
- Holds a high standard without anyone enforcing it — details that other people call “good enough” bother you until they're fixed
- Likes systems and likes it when they're followed, and will tell us when one of ours isn't working
- Shows up prepared: read the brief, knows the plan, has already thought about what could go sideways
- Calm and warm in client homes, even when things are messy or emotional, and honest with a client about a decision they're avoiding without making them feel judged
- Comfortable directing a team and accountable for their output
- Picks things up fast and wants to be trusted to run with them
- Comfortable with the physical reality of the work — lifting up to 50 lbs, being on your feet, climbing step stools, moving bins
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- 3 years in leadership, operations, project management, or client-facing work
- Experience in organizing, interior styling, move coordination, hospitality, education, or logistics is strongly preferred
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel across the Boston metro
- A smartphone for time tracking, Trello, and photo uploads
- The judgment to make a call on site when the plan needs to change
WHAT YOU’LL LOVE ABOUT WORKING HERE
- Predictable part-time hours that work around school pickup or other part-time jobs or commitments
- Ownership of how the day runs and input into how the company works
- Clear expectations and a founder who tells you where you stand
- Interesting projects and a team that takes the work seriously without taking itself too seriously
- The satisfaction of leaving a space (and a person) noticeably better than you found it
- Room to grow as we grow
