What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sterile Processing Technician position at WinnMed?
WinnMed is seeking to hire a full time Sterile Processing Technician to join our Surgery Department. The Sterile Processing Technician is a trained individual who demonstrates competence in the decontamination, processing, sterilization and distribution of equipment and supplies for in-hospital use, is responsible for following the manufacturers; recommendations for sterilization and follows departmental procedures (Policies and Procedures). The Sterile Processing Technician will be responsible for the processing of reusable medical supplies and instrumentation which includes decontamination, assembly, terminal sterilization and sterile storage delivery to end users. Position is Full Time, 40 hours per week. Monday - Friday, rotating shifts, primarily 7:30 am - 4:00 pm and 10:00 am - 6:30 pm. No weekends, no holidays.
- Required :
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Must have one of the following: 1) Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in Iowa OR 2) Another healthcare certification plus one year of healthcare experience OR 3) At least 2 years of related healthcare experience
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification required within 1 year from hire
- BLS certification required within 1 month of hire
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations in the perioperative setting
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety
- Basic computer skills for documentation and inventory management
- Preferred :
- Previous healthcare or perioperative experience preferred
- Microsoft Word & Excel knowledge and experience preferred
- Knowledge of sterilization techniques, infection control, and surgical instrumentation
- At least 2 years of experience with surgical instrumentation handling and sterilization
