What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sterile Processing Technician Lead position at WinnMed?
WinnMed is hiring for a full-time, Lead Sterile Processing Technician to join the Surgical Services team.
In this role you will be a working lead responsible for coordinating and performing daily sterile processing operations and tasks. This will include:
- Coordinating and scheduling staff assignments, managing workflow and allocating appropriate resources to support surgical services.
- Serving as a knowledgeable technical and functional resource for staff, providing guidance and support on instrumentation, sterilization processes, equipment operation and department policies.
- Assisting and evaluating orientation and training of assigned staff members.
- Monitoring and reporting compliance with policies and procedures.
- Overseeing the utilization and maintenance of supplies, instruments, and equipment.
- Performing the daily tasks of preparing surgical equipment through decontamination, sterilization the decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of medical instruments, equipment, and supplies.
Schedule
- Will include rotating shifts: 5:30 AM - 2:00 PM, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM, 10:00 AM - 6:30 PM
- No nights, weekends, or Holidays
- Required :
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Must have one of the following: 1) Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in Iowa OR 2) Another healthcare certification plus one year of healthcare experience
- 3 years of Sterile Processing Technician experience
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification required within 1 year from hire
- BLS certification required within 1 month of hire
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations in the perioperative setting
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety
- Basic computer skills for documentation and inventory management
- Preferred :
- Previous lead experience in healthcare or perioperative area
- Microsoft Word & Excel knowledge and experience preferred
