About the Role
Wink Family EyeCare is seeking a passionate, warm, and highly skilled Optician to join our dedicated team in Cypress, TX.
In this role, you will be the heart of our optical area. We care deeply about our patients and pride ourselves on offering a tailored, compassionate approach. You’ll be helping patients select frames, using high-tech tools like Optikam, and working flexibly with patients on custom quotes so top-tier vision care is accessible to everyone.
Key Responsibilities
Personalized Patient Care & Frame Styling
- Enthusiastically greet patients and deliver a warm, highly personalized styling experience.
- Guide patients in selecting frame styles and lens packages that suit their unique personality and lifestyle.
- Work compassionately with patients to adjust quotes and options so they get high-quality eyewear.
- Perform expert, comfortable frame fittings, alignments, and custom adjustments.
Optical & Lab Tech Expertise
- Utilize Optikam digital measurement technology for accurate fitting parameters (PD, seg heights, fitting heights).
- Explain lens technologies(Single Vision, Bifocals, Progressives/PALs, high-index, anti-reflective coatings, photochromics).
- Troubleshoot visual complaints, non-adaptations, and prescription issues with empathy and problem-solving skills.
Insurance & Administration
- Process vision insurance plans (VSP, EyeMed, Superior, Davis, Spectera, NVA).
- Accurately manage patient orders, inventory, and notes in Crystal PM.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Maintain accurate medical records using EMR/EHR systems while adhering to HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies
- Provide expert guidance on optical products, including sunglasses, contact lenses, and specialty lenses
- Basic math skills for handling retail math calculations
- Optical Knowledge: 1–2 years of optician experience with solid proficiency in lens optics.
- Troubleshooting: Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot optical non-adapts and vision issues (Required).
- Technology: Experience with digital optical devices (Optikam) and practice management software (Crystal PM) is a strong plus.
- Attitude: High energy, deeply caring, patient-focused demeanor, and a willingness to work flexibly with patients.
- Language: Bilingual (English / Spanish) is preferred but not required.
