Direct Care Worker / Mental Health Technician (DCWMHT)

Job Summary

We are seeking compassionate and reliable professionals to provide direct care and support to youth in our residential program. Direct Care Workers are essential in maintaining a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment while assisting in daily activities, monitoring behaviors, and supporting treatment goals.

Responsibilities

Supervise and engage with youth in daily activities, recreation, and life skills development.

Monitor and document behaviors, progress, and incidents in accordance with facility protocols.

Assist with de-escalation and crisis intervention using trauma-informed techniques.

Escort residents to appointments, activities, and therapy sessions.

Maintain a safe and clean environment in living areas.

Support youth in following schedules, routines, and program rules.

Participate in treatment team meetings and communicate observations to clinical staff.

Administer basic first aid and assist with non-invasive medical support as directed.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in behavioral health preferred. Two years experience in a human services field.

Ability to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Experience working with youth or in a Residential and/or behavioral health setting preferred.

Ability to pass background checks, drug screening, criminal background check and DCFS central registry check.

Preferred Qualifications

Mental Health Technician certification, or similar training.

Crisis intervention and prevention training or equivalent de-escalation training or certification.

First Aid/BLS

Compensation

$14–$16 per hour, depending on experience.​
