Cashier

Wine Districts
Frederick, MD Full Time | Part Time
POSTED ON 10/12/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 2/9/2027

We are looking for a friendly, energetic, dependable, and customer-focused Cashier & Guest Experience Associate to join our team in Frederick.

The cashier is one of the most important positions in our store.

You are often the first person a customer sees and the last person they interact with before leaving. That means we're looking for someone who can combine genuine hospitality with speed, accuracy, and professionalism.

Our service philosophy combines:

Genuine: Friendly, welcoming, genuinely helpful service.

Hospitality: Elevated hospitality, attention to detail, and anticipating customer needs.

Execution: Speed, accuracy, efficiency, and operational discipline.

We want every customer to leave thinking:

“That was easy. That was friendly. I'll come back.”

What You'll Do

  • Greet every customer promptly and warmly.
  • Provide friendly, professional, and efficient checkout service.
  • Operate the POS/register accurately and efficiently.
  • Process cash, credit/debit cards, and other approved forms of payment.
  • Verify identification in accordance with company policy and applicable laws.
  • Follow all legal requirements and company policies regarding the sale of alcoholic beverages.
  • Maintain accurate cash handling and minimize register discrepancies.
  • Assist customers in locating products throughout the store.
  • Answer basic questions about products, promotions, pricing, and store policies.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional checkout area.
  • Keep checkout displays and merchandise properly stocked.
  • Monitor the front end and proactively identify when customers need assistance.
  • Help maintain overall store cleanliness and presentation.
  • Assist with stocking and other store tasks during slower periods.
  • Communicate customer concerns, product issues, or operational problems to management.
  • Help create a welcoming environment for every customer.
  • Support the team wherever needed to keep the store running smoothly.

Our Service Standard Serve intentionally. We believe great service starts with attitude.

  • Smile.
  • Make eye contact.
  • Greet customers.
  • Be helpful.
  • Be respectful.
  • Thank customers for their business.

We want genuine hospitality—not scripted interactions.

Host like a high-end resort.

Pay attention to the details.

If a customer looks confused, offer assistance.

If there's a line, move with urgency.

If you notice something that needs attention, take ownership.

Don't wait for someone else to solve a problem you can solve yourself.

Execute with precision

Great service shouldn't mean slow service.

We expect our cashiers to be:

  • Fast
  • Accurate
  • Organized
  • Focused
  • Consistent

Speed matters. Accuracy matters. The customer experience matters.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is:

  • Friendly and naturally personable.
  • Dependable and punctual.
  • Comfortable interacting with a wide variety of customers.
  • Able to remain calm and professional during busy periods.
  • Accurate with cash and transactions.
  • Comfortable learning and using POS/register technology.
  • Able to work quickly without becoming careless.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • A strong communicator.
  • Comfortable standing for extended periods.
  • Willing to help with stocking, cleaning, and other store responsibilities.
  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
  • Able to meet all applicable legal requirements for working around the sale of alcoholic beverages.

Previous cashier, retail, restaurant, hospitality, grocery, or liquor-store experience is a plus, but not required for the right candidate.

We're more interested in your attitude, reliability, work ethic, and ability to take care of customers.

The Checkout Experience

We want every transaction to feel:

Fast. Friendly. Accurate. Effortless.

A great cashier doesn't simply scan products and collect payment.

A great cashier:

  • Notices when someone needs help.
  • Keep the line moving.
  • Remain friendly when the store gets busy.
  • Handles difficult situations professionally.
  • Protects the accuracy of the register.
  • Makes customers feel welcome.
  • Leaves a positive final impression.

What Success Looks Like

After 90 days, a successful Cashier & Guest Experience Associate should be someone management can trust to:

  • Run a register independently.
  • Handle transactions accurately.
  • Follow ID and alcohol-sale procedures consistently.
  • Maintain a professional checkout area.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service without being reminded.
  • Keep lines moving efficiently.
  • Handle customer questions and concerns professionally.
  • Jump in and help teammates when needed.
  • Represent the store positively every shift.

Pay may increase based on experience, availability, performance, reliability, and demonstrated ability to take on additional responsibilities.

We want to reward team members who consistently demonstrate exceptional hospitality, accuracy, initiative, and teamwork.

Why Join Us?

  • Competitive pay
  • Full-time and part-time opportunities
  • Flexible scheduling based on business needs
  • Hands-on training
  • Opportunity for advancement
  • Positive, team-oriented environment
  • Opportunity to learn beer, wine, and spirits
  • Recognition for exceptional customer service and performance
  • Potential for increased responsibility and compensation

Our Ideal Candidate

You don't have to be a hospitality expert.

You don't have to know every beer, wine, or spirit on the shelf.

But you do need to care.

Care about the customer.

Care about your teammates.

Care about doing things correctly.

Care about keeping the store looking great.

And care enough to notice when something needs to be done—and do it.

If you believe that “good enough” isn't good enough, we'd love to meet you.

Apply today and tell us why you would be a great addition to our team.

Pay: From $19.00 per hour
