Position Title: Technology Support & Data Specialist

Terms of Employment: Full Year

Position Classification: Non-Union/At-will

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical training, certification, post-secondary coursework, or related experience in data systems, information systems, educational technology, information technology, school operations, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working with student information systems, assessment platforms, reporting systems, spreadsheets, databases, or other data management tools preferred.
  • Experience with PowerSchool student information system preferred.
  • Experience with Ed-Fi, Vermont state reporting, or other K-12 state reporting systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with K-12 reporting requirements, rostering processes, assessment data, school data workflows, and district data systems preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when entering, reviewing, maintaining, validating, and reporting data.
  • Ability to organize, review, reconcile, and maintain records across multiple systems.
  • Ability to follow reporting timelines, resolve data discrepancies, document processes, and complete assigned reporting tasks accurately and on schedule.
  • Strong technical proficiency with web-based systems, spreadsheets, software applications, operating systems, and common school technology.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, including the ability to explain data, systems, and technical information clearly to non-technical users.
  • Ability to work professionally with staff, students, administrators, families, vendors, and other members of the school community.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and follow through in a dynamic educational environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with student information, staff information, assessment data, district records, and other sensitive information.
  • Knowledge of K-12 school operations, educational technology practices, data privacy expectations, and responsible technology use preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between district schools and offices preferred.
  • Ability to complete applicable background check, fingerprinting, and onboarding requirements before beginning work.
  • Regular and punctual attendance.

Position Summary:

The Technology Support & Data Specialist is primarily responsible for supporting the accuracy, organization, maintenance, and effective use of district data systems across the Windham Northeast Supervisory Union. This position supports student information systems, assessment platforms, educational applications, reporting workflows, rostering, records maintenance, and other data-related processes that support teaching, learning, compliance, and district operations.

A critical area of responsibility for this position is completing required state and district reporting tasks as assigned, with a primary focus on Vermont state reporting through Ed-Fi and related state reporting systems. This includes data validation, error review, data cleanup, submission preparation, coordination with school and district staff, meeting reporting deadlines, and maintaining related documentation.

The position works closely with the Director of Technology, Technology Department staff, school offices, administrators, educators, and other district staff to help ensure that student, staff, assessment, and operational data is accurate, timely, secure, and usable.

In addition to data systems and reporting work, the position provides technology support as needed, including assistance with helpdesk requests, software applications, devices, inventory, documentation, purchasing and receiving, and other department functions.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the management, organization, maintenance, and accuracy of district data systems, including student information systems, assessment systems, educational platforms, and related reporting tools.
  • Complete required state and district reporting tasks as assigned, with a primary focus on Vermont state reporting through Ed-Fi and related state reporting systems. This includes data validation, error review, data cleanup, routine data submissions, submission preparation, coordination with school and district staff, meeting reporting deadlines, maintaining records, and documenting related processes.
  • Support data workflows related to student records, assessment data, rostering, reporting, account access, application use, and system maintenance.
  • Support commonly used K-12 systems and platforms, which may include PowerSchool SIS, NWEA MAP, i-Ready, Lexia, DIBELS, Forefront, Panorama, Google Workspace, and other district-supported applications.
  • Work with school office staff, administrators, educators, and Technology Department staff to resolve data questions, system issues, and record discrepancies.
  • Create, update, and maintain documentation, checklists, user guides, procedures, and other support materials related to data systems and technology workflows.
  • Assist with training, professional development, and end-user support related to data systems, educational applications, and technology tools.
  • Support the setup, configuration, maintenance, and use of district software applications and web-based systems.
  • Provide secondary technology support for hardware, software, accounts, devices, printers/copiers, classroom technology, phones, and other district-supported systems as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records related to technology inventory, software, applications, licenses, purchasing, receiving, and equipment distribution.
  • Assist with procurement and receiving processes, including tracking orders, verifying deliveries, organizing equipment, and supporting timely delivery of resources.
  • Coordinate equipment distribution and collection as needed.
  • Collaborate with educators, administrators, Technology Department staff, vendors, and other district staff to support the effective use of data systems and technology.
  • Participate in technology and data planning discussions as appropriate, including sharing perspective on system use, recurring issues, support needs, and alignment with district goals.
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow district procedures related to student records, staff records, data privacy, information security, responsible use, and records management.
  • Escalate complex data, technical, security, privacy, or operational concerns to the Director of Technology or other appropriate staff.
  • Perform other data systems, technology support, and department-related duties as assigned by the Director of Technology, where appropriate for skills, experience, and district needs.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout school buildings. The employee must be able to occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 30 pounds, such as computers, monitors, printers, classroom technology equipment, and boxes of supplies. Manual dexterity is required to finger, handle, or grasp objects, including computers, tools, cables, and technology equipment. The employee must be able to hear, talk, and see in order to communicate with staff and complete data systems and technology support tasks.

Ability to drive is preferred due to travel that may be necessary between schools and offices within the District/Supervisory Union. The majority of the position is performed indoors in school, office, and technology workroom environments.
