Middle School Mathematics Teacher

Windermere Preparatory School, an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, is seeking an inspiring, dynamic, and community-minded Middle School Mathematics teacher for the 26-27 School Year who brings both deep subject expertise and a genuine passion for teaching. The ideal candidate will be open to teaching 7th grade Math and 8th grade Pre-Algebra, with expertise in all topics of Mathematics. The successful candidate will come to the position with an interdisciplinary approach and will inspire students to appreciate Mathematics and how it fits into the overall academic experience.

MYP experience is welcomed but not required; we are committed to providing comprehensive training and collaborative support through our departments and school leadership. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan, teach, and assess within the MYP framework
• Creatively implement the established curriculum
• Select and plan appropriate learning and teaching activities that are in alignment with Windermere Preparatory School and Nord Anglia Education
• Exercise good classroom management with the use of fair and consistent standards and appropriate sanctions that are clearly articulated to the students
• Encourage students to confidently and freely ask questions
• Know and use a wide range of assessment strategies consistent with course content and objectives
• Provide reports on student progress and maintain open communication while ensuring that these reports are accurate and constructive
• Differentiate instruction and assessment to meet the diverse needs of students
• Identify students who need additional academic assistance and influence needed actions accordingly
• Provide opportunities for student expression using spoken, written, and electronic forms of communication.
• Develop lessons that engage students in higher order thinking
• Provide a safe learning environment in which students can take intellectual risks
• Use learning resources and technology to enhance lessons where appropriate
• Create a stimulating and challenging learning environment with effective use being made of classroom displays
• Develop student cooperation and tolerance through group work
• Create an environment that fosters a global mind set
• Create an atmosphere of mutual respect
• Assist students in taking responsibility for their own actions
• Encourage students to set realistic goals and to use their time in a constructive and balanced manner
• Encourage students to participate in the co-curricular life of the school Assign homework that is meaningful and appropriate
• Maintain accurate records
• Attend functions in support of school and community
• Attend all meetings as required
• Available to support students outside of classroom hours
• Maintain student portfolios and fa cilitate student led conference following division requirements
• Serve as a homeroom teacher to mentor students and be the liaison to parents
• Work collaboratively with grade level and department teams Attend program events, field trips, and festivals

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics is required; Master’s Degree or higher preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience.
• Experience in the private school sector and/or MYP/IB experience is desired.
• Florida teaching certification is preferred.
• Experience with Google platform and Microsoft Suite preferred.

• Effective organizational skills including but not limited to lesson planning, implementing units of study, differentiating instruction, designing and implementing assessments
• Ability to monitor student progress and report information in a timely manner

• Highly developed collaborative leadership skills and the ability to work well with and through others
• Ability to prioritize and to expend allotted resources in alignment with stated academic priorities
