What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Mentor - White Buffalo Recovery Center position at Wind River Family and Community Health Care?
Provides assistance and technical support to the community about substance use disorder prevention and education activities by conducting educational sessions on substance abuse, alcohol abuse, commercial tobacco and other drug related problems to local schools and community agencies/programs. Support local youth groups in the community and schools through social/prevention activities such as but not limited: To facilitate youth talking circles and support groups. Cultural events and activities, experiential learning activities, leadership, and youth empowerment events. Promoting overall wellness and supporting wellness activities in the community. Create and nurture protective factors (such as caring relationships, high expectations, and relevant and meaningful participation) in each youth's environment, including but not limited to, establishing relationships that encourage positive social and emotional development, and integrating and reconnecting youth with natural supports, community, and cultural resources. Facilitate youth engagement and self-determination, such as engaging youth to build and strengthen their identity and role in the Native community and facilitating interdepartmental activities to engage youth. Develop prevention community resources utilizing media, social media, advising, fact sheets, etc. Support the Youth Media Center and assist in the development of prevention videos and films. Other duties as assigned to maintain and enhance the operation of the department.
