What are the responsibilities and job description for the Health Information Management (HIM) Supervisor - Health Information Management position at Wind River Family and Community Health Care?
Plans and develops a comprehensive health program to meet organization goals and objectives. Plans, manages, advises, and directs the health information program in accordance with applicable Federal/State laws, facility bylaws and policies, and accreditation or certification standards. Aids clinical and medical staff, implementing and supporting organization-wide privacy and confidentiality, and health record review and record processing. Performs audits and analyzes data to identify trends; and participates in facility committees.
Ensures accurate, timely, and complete health records, in accordance with health information management department policies, CMS requirements, and applicable laws. Performs quarterly and annual health record audits for compliance and accreditation requirements. Responsible for the end of the fiscal year activities, including end of fiscal year reports and closeout, and the National Data Warehouse (NDW) export. Serves in a key role for all activities involving data systems, including planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating systems. Provides subject matter expertise to administrative/management staff and clinical supervisors regarding health information management policies and procedures. Provides training activities for health information management staff. Ensures compliance and confidentiality in health information exchange and is an advocate for confidentiality and patients' rights. Monitors the electronic health record, Vista Imaging, and the release of information (ROI) systems. Manages storage and retrieval of health records (on site storage). Reviews court orders/subpoenas for health information requests per department policy. Collaborates with administration and the clinical staff in the development of future strategies for initiatives based on the organization's health information. Develops and implements goals, program objectives, and tasks to meet the mission and vision of the organization. Ensures performance appraisals in a timely manner. Responsible for continuing staff education and training. Develops, updates, and implements department policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned to maintain and enhance the operation of the program.
